Great Peanut Tour September 8-11, 2005

The Peanut Tour has been described by some as an eating event for those people with a cycling disorder! Actually, it is 4 days of generally flat riding. The event gets its eating reputation from the numerous rest stops along each ride. In fact, it is very difficult to ride more than 10 miles without encountering one.

Most participants camp and all the rides start and finish from the campgrounds.

In camp, the first day

Daily rides range for a 15 mile "Peanut Tour" to an 80 mile Lake Gaston Loop

Of course, after all that riding, one has to re-hydrate oneself when one returns to camp.

For some LBC'ers, Friday night is the traditional watermelon seed fight. Here is Kathy arming herself.

Of course, it all good fun until someone looses an "eye"!

Did I mention there were a lot of rest stops?

This year, we tried something different. We decided to "dress" for Saturday night dinner. The rules were simple. One could wear any outfit one chose as long as it was cheap and purchased at a thrift shop, ebay, etc.

Some of us went formal.

Others, a little less so.

And, still others!

For the first time in the history of the Peanut Tour, the organizer, Bobby Wren, was speechless.
