STARTING POINT: Gordinier Hall, Millersville University of Pennsylvania, George and James Street. DESCRIPTION: This is a hilly ride through southern Lancaster County. The ride leaves Millersville, passes by Lancaster County Winery, Robert Fulton's birthplace, through Nickel Mines and New Providence and travels back to Millersville. When travelling through New Providence, look for the house in which the closing scene of the movie "Boys from Brazil" was filmed. Use caution on the section of White Oak Road just before Route 222. It is a steep hill with a stop sign at the bottom. Food can be purchased at various country stores along the way although some are closed on Sundays. POINTS OF INTEREST: A. Lancaster County Winery (717) 464-3555. No Admission Charge. A 35-acre vineyard and winery which produces 12,000 gallons of wine per year. Special festivals are held throughout the year in addition to tours. Wine tasting is offered as a part of every tour. Open: February through December, daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Location: Rawlinsville Road, Willow Street, PA 17584. B. Robert Fulton's Birthplace (717) 548-2679 Admission Charge. The small stone house has been restored and furnished to represent the way it looked at the time of Fulton's birth in 1765. A room on the home contains informative exhibits relating to Fulton's life and accomplishments as a pioneer steamship builder, artist, inventor and engineer.
