STARTING POINT: Quality Inn located on Route 272, three miles northeast of Lancaster. DESCRIPTION: This is a scenic ride through Amish farm country and the old, historic town of Lititz. The ride is flat to very moderate with only one short steep hill on Willow Road. Warwick Road offers a shaded ride along Lititz Run past the secluded Daffin Estate. In Lititz, visit the Sturgis Pretzel House, Linden Hall and the Wilbur Chocolate Factory. Lititz Springs Park is a good place to eat a picnic lunch. POINTS OF INTEREST: A. Pennsylvania Farm Museum. (717) 569-0401 Admission Charge. The Museum is a collection of over 30 original buildings and their contents assembled to represent small town life in the country from 1750 to 1900. Especially interesting are the spring and fall craft days when the entire museum is filled with craftspeople and demonstrators. Open: Year round, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday 12 noon to 5 p.m. Location: 2451 Kissel Hill Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. B. Hunsecker Covered Bridge. C. Pinetown Covered Bridge. D. Sturgis Pretzel House. (717) 626-4354. Admission Charge. The first commercial pretzel bakery opened in this location in 1861. A guided tour shows early equipment and methods of pretzel making. Visitors are encouraged to twist their own pretzel. Open: Year round, Monday through Saturday. Location: 219 East Main Street, Lititz, PA 17543. E. Linden Hall. (717) 626-8512. No Admission Charge. Linden Hall is a girls' boarding and day college-preparatory school with grades 8 to 12. The enrollment is about 121. It was founded in 1746 by members of the Moravian Church. Linden Hall is the oldest girls' boarding school in the United States. The campus is 46 wooded acres. Location: The campus entrance is off East Main Street (Rt. 772), two blocks east of Broad Street. F. Candy Americana Museum. (717) 626-1131. No Admission Charge. All phases of the candy industry, including manufacturing, packaging and advertising are featured in the Wilbur Chocolate Company's museum. A candy kitchen, circa 1900, and an outlet store are included. Open: Year round. Monday through Saturday. Location: 48 North Broad Street, Lititz, PA 17543. G. Lititz Springs Park. No Admission Charge. The park is located at the headwaters of Lititz Creek. The first use of the area for recreation dates back to 1778 when it was used during the summer of that year by convalescing Revolutionary War soldiers who were patients in a hospital located near the Moravian Church of Lititz.
