Near perfect riding conditions for time
trialing ended the 2008 series on a high note and erased the trauma of last
month’s unstable weather. Afternoon temperatures in the 90’s fell into the
mid-80’s and winds calmed as the riders got under way. Thirty-eight riders
enjoyed the evening and tested themselves against the clock. Many personal
best times were recorded, but Andy Ayers’ course record set last year remained
unbroken (just barely). Everyone enjoyed themselves.
The 2008 TT series is now complete and
in the books and we turn our attention to 2009. Plan on May – September,
likely the first or second Thursday of the month. The official schedule
will be published in the Pedaller and on the website next spring. The
course will remain the same unless circumstances dictate otherwise. We are
in need of a regular volunteer to assist with timing. I will be looking
into upgrading our timing system with an eye on increased accuracy and less risk
of mistaken identity. As always, suggestions for improvement are welcome.
Finally, I want to express my
appreciation to all who participated this year to make this event a success.
I especially want to thank Neil Crone without whom the TT series would not be
possible.
See you next year!
